The King Report on Corporate Governance in South Africa – King III became effective for all companies whose financial year ends commence after 28 February 2010. All companies are expected to apply the recommendations of King III or explain why they have not done so. At this stage only JSE listed companies will be penalised for not applying those recommendations of King III that have been incorporated into the JSE Listings Requirements.
